Description
The Svalbard archipelago is bathed from the west by the warm Gulf Stream, which partially prevents the ocean from freezing. However, when temperatures drop enough, ice forms even there, both as drifting floes and as a result of slow freezing. But as the climate changes, the ice becomes thinner and shorter lasting. During the two weeks of our expedition, I was fortunate enough to witness the entire process of ice cover formation.
